What's Involved?
- BSL Level 2 focuses on linguistics and enhancing vocabulary from Level 1 by use of continual assessment and video work (conversation, presentation and receptive).
- There is classroom work to develop the structure of your language use and preparation for the 3 units that need to be passed to be awarded the Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language.
- Online courses typically last 8 to 10 months.
- Access is provided to Deaf Solutions 3 online ‘Student Zone’ for course support material.
- Deaf Solutions 3 offers ‘Signature’ qualifications. Signature is the leading awarding body for Deaf communication qualifications in the UK.
- Tutor: Gary L Taylor, with over 30 years teaching experience and twice winner of Signature North West Teacher of the Year Award.
Entry Requirements
- Learners must be able to demonstrate competence in BSL at level 1.
- Proof of BSL qualification/skills received, prior to a place being confirmed.

Qualification
- Signature Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language, comprising of the following units:
- BSL 201 Receptive BSL
Skills for understanding routine language in everyday situations, expressed through simple sentence structures and set phrases in the form of a presentation. - BSL 202 Productive BSL
Skills for demonstrating the use of routine language in everyday situations, expressed through simple sentence structures and set phrases in the form of a presentation. - BSL 203 Conversational Skills
Skills for demonstrating ability to hold a routine conversation by using and understanding language expressed through simple sentence structures and set phrases, expressing views and/or clarifying understanding. - Progression from Level 2?
- Progression to BSL 3 is possible depending upon the requirements of the student.
